Cottage Shoreline & Dock Watch

See the same dock and shoreline before freeze-up and after ice-out.

WATCH   /   The same shore, two visits

West Hawk Lake archive imagery illustrates the setting. The comparison marks are an example of how a seasonal record is presented.

Seasonal pair of visits · optional post-storm returnQuoted by frontage, access and number of visits

01   /   PROJECT BRIEF

What your shoreline comparison includes

A close photograph can show that a board shifted. A matching view from the other season helps show where. We build a repeatable record of the dock, shoreline and access points for the owner and the contractor doing the work.

Who it’s for   Cottage owners, marinas, resort operators and dock contractors.

01

Repeat viewpoints

A short numbered list of camera views and reference features so the next visit can reproduce the framing.

02

Dated comparison plates

Matched wide views and close-ups of agreed features such as a dock connection, bank edge or boat access.

03

Contractor handoff

A location sketch and one comparison sheet per priority area. The owner can point directly to the item they want checked.

Behind the examples

Oblique aerial photograph of a wooded West Hawk Lake shoreline with cabins, a boathouse and several docks.
The waterfront in context
This oblique West Hawk Lake view records the cabins, treeline and docks together along a stretch of shoreline.
Wood-plank dock with green loungers, two flower planters and water along its edge.
Deck-level detail
A view down the dock puts the deck boards, edge and adjoining water at a very different scale from the wide aerial view.
Low view across rippled lake water toward two wooded points on an overcast day.
Across the water
Looking across the lake records the shape of the distant treeline. The view can serve as a reference for a later photograph.

How we do the work

  1. Pick the frontage

Mark the endpoints and tell us which structures and concerns to document.

  2. Build a baseline

We agree on site access and any applicable park permissions. Record season, visibility and water conditions at the first visit.

  3. Return to the references

Repeat the views after ice-out, a storm or completed work. Identify visible differences and note when water level or camera angle limits the comparison.
