Important
Search effort, not a recovery guarantee.
Thermal imaging is powerful but it does not see through roofs, dense cover or every canopy. Hot ground, wind, distance, weather and airspace can reduce effectiveness.
Do not chase
Give HDS the latest confirmed sighting, direction of travel and behaviour. Pressure from people can move a frightened animal farther.
Build the timeline
Photos, time-stamped sightings, likely food/water points, tracks and known routines help prioritize the search.
Use the right tool
Visual daylight sweeps and thermal night/low-light work each have strengths and limitations. HDS chooses based on conditions.
